In all the years that there have been marginalized citizens, there have been those that are not marginalized that stand by their sides. These people are known as “allies”. Contrary to how a lot of feminists feel, I believe allies are very important. Read More
My name is Qarman, but you can call me Q. I am that damn hippie. I started this blog as a little haven for free spirits like myself. I was born in a small town in Georgia, but I was raised in an even smaller town in Kentucky. I’ve always marched to the beat of my own drum. I’ve never wanted to do things the way I’m suppose to. Life is far too short to live your life for other people. That’s why I’ve always stood up for what I believe in no matter the ridicule that follows. It was definitely hard growing up as a black female in a small southern town, but I was determined not to let it crush my spirit. I have a mom that’s tough as nails and she was always there to pick me up and dust me off. Even though my hometown had its flaws, I met some amazing people that I’m lucky enough to call a second family. I even met the love of my life in that small town. My senior year of high school we tied the knot (yes you read that right!) Even with all the doubt and negativity, we were so in love we didn’t even care. It’s been like a fairytale ever since. He joined the army, we bought a house, and a year ago we brought a sweet little boy into this world. Not to brag, but I am living my best life! I am so thankful for each and every twist and turn because it has made me into the woman I am today.
I’m a wife, a mom, and a feminist. Sometimes, I’m a damn mess! But, most importantly, I’m a human being and I’m doing my very best. It’s safe to say that none of us have this thing called life figured out, but I am a firm believer that we all can benefit from sharing and discussing. We all have a one-sided view on life and more often than not it can leave us divided as humans. I want to share my life with you and I want you to share your life with me. Tell me your thoughts, your opinions, and your biggest fears. Tell me your life story. Tell me everything! I hope to be as open and honest with you as possible and I want you to do the same. I look forward to starting a new friendship with you!
So, over the summer I went on my first-ever camping trip. To my surprise, I had so much fun! I always had such a bias against camping because I hate mosquitos and I am TERRIFIED of snakes. I finally decided to put my bias aside and I’m so glad I did! We didn’t go anywhere super interesting because I just wanted to dip my toe in for my first camping trip, but we still had a lot of fun. I went with my niece, husband, and (at the time) 10-month-old son. I thought camping with a baby was going to be next to impossible, but it was actually quite manageable and he seemed to enjoy himself too. Read More
